A truly exquisite syrup

Ingredients
  • 500ml cold water
  • 500g white caster sugar
  • 250g chopped fresh magnolia flowers and/or buds
Directions
  • Step 1 Put sugar into a pan along with the water, and bring to a simmer. Immediately remove.
  • Step 2 Allow to cool to a temp that you can put your finger in without getting burned.
  • Step 3 Then add the flowers and buds.
  • Step 4 Steep for 24 hours, then strain in a sieve and pour into sterilized bottles.
